  • All tinting and perming treatments require a patch test at least 24 hours before your first treatment and then again if it has been more than 6 months since your last treatment. Unfortunately this is non-negotiable and whilst we appreciate you may have tinting or perming at another premises - we will need to patch test you for our records.

Patch tests are completely free and your responsibility to book before your treatment

  • Patch tests are your responsibility to book. Laurabella patch tests are completely free so if in doubt please give us a call on 01635 291211 to book a patch test. This must be done at least 24 hours before your treatment.

  • Aim to come to Laurabella with a clean face free from makeup and additional oils. Whilst the therapist will attempt to remove all residue in the tinting/perming area - some mascaras and foundations require a double cleanse. This is likely to make your treatment overrun. Clean brows and lashes will ensure the tint can absorb properly.

  • Avoid washing the tinted area for at least 12 hours following your treatment. Avoid using oil based products and harsh face washes directly onto the tinted area. Avoid direct sun exposure, chlorine and salt water for at least 24 hours. Tinting eyebrows/lashes is similar to hair dye and the colour of the tint can be directly affected by the above, avoid them to preserve your tint.

  • Before any waxing treatment please ensure the area is clean. We suggest using a scrub in the area being waxed approximately 24 hours before the treatment to loosen any ingrown hairs. Avoid tanning and oils before the treatment as the wax itself will not stick to oily surfaces and will remove any dead or dry skin from the area meaning the tan may go patchy. If you have more than a few cm of growth in the area, make sure the hair is trimmed to a manageable length.

  • Avoid getting into chlorinated or salt water for at least 24 hours to allow the pores to close and avoid infection. in the weeks that follow, exfoliate regularly to avoid any ingrown hairs and keep skin moisturised. We suggest leaving a few days between a waxing appointment and any major event to allow time for the skin to settle.

  • Hot wax is the perfect wax for sensitive areas such as the face, underarms and bikini area. Hot wax comes at an additional charge of £5 per area. If it is your first time trying waxing particularly of the bikini area, this may be the option for you.

  • Make sure you arrive to your appointment in a timely manner to allow extra time to pick a colour from either the gels or nail varnishes. Make sure if you have gel or acrylics done somewhere other than Laurabella that they are removed completely before attending the appointment.

  • We suggest you avoid submerging your hands/ feet in water for at least 12 hours post-gel appointment. If going for nail varnish, allow ample time following your appointment to allow the polish to dry before leaving. Use a cuticle oil or balm regularly to keep cuticles soft and make sure to wear gloves when doing manual jobs and socks/shoes when outside.

  • Laurabella is only able to soak off GEL nails that were done at Laurabella, we unfortunately do not soak off gels done at other salons due to the fact we do not know the composition of the products used. We are not able to remove acrylic nails, this should be done so before the appointment.

  • No. Unfortunately we are not able to offer manicures or pedicures if there is a fungal infection on either the hands or feet. Fungal infections are extremely contagious, please make sure to visit a GP if unsure of symptoms, we are unable to diagnose or treat fungal infections at the spa.

  • Before attending a Makeup class, trial or session, please make sure you have cleared your skin of any residual makeup and dirt, we suggest if the makeup is for an event, please make sure hair is washed and out of the way in time for your maekup to be done. We do not suggest showering following your makeup as this can affect the final outcome. We also suggest you have a good idea of what you would like your makeup to look like with pictures if possible so we can advise and complete the look accordingly.

  • Your therapist will apply setting powders and sprays to maintain the look but if you know you often suffer from oily skin, it may be worth purchasing blotting papers for the event to prolong the look. We suggest to avoid touching your face as much as possible. your therapist will give you a small refill of the gloss or lipstick used so it is possible to re-touch later into the event if necessary.

  • Aim to book both your trial and complete makeup as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment. Whilst we will do everything in our power to make availability for you with less notice, it can not always be guaranteed.
